Platform.sh, the end-to-end web platform for agile teams, is pleased to announce that we have joined Gaia-X, a private-public initiative to develop common requirements for a European data infrastructure.

Platform.sh is lending our support and efforts to Gaia-X because we believe that European Union organizations will greatly benefit from having the infrastructure in place to securely store and process their valuable data. As a leading European Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), trusted by many venerable European public institutions and European private companies to build, manage, scale, and secure their web sites and applications, we have a unique insight into data security needs across the EU.

“Trusted cloud is a key pillar of our strategy,” says Platform.sh co-founder and CEO Fred Plais. “We are proud to work alongside corporate organizations and national authorities to lay the foundation for a data infrastructure that the entire EU will be able to put its trust in.”

Platform.sh intends to participate energetically in the relevant Gaia-X technical working groups so as to ensure our solution will comply with Gaia-X technical requirements and fit neatly within its federated offering. We will also strive to ensure that the views of PaaS offerings such as ours will be strongly represented in Gaia-X deliberations.

From industrial corporations such as BMW, SAP, Siemens, Amadeus, Electricité de France, and Safran to cloud providers such as OVHcloud, Orange, and Deutsche Telekom, we are proud to join so many illustrious founding members in the Gaia-X mission to provide a secure and reliable European framework for storing and processing data.
