TYPO3 CMS 8 was presented in the cloud today at the TYPO3 Conference that is currently being held in Munich. Starting now, users can test TYPO3 on Platform.sh. The TYPO3 Association and the cloud hosting company Platform.sh are cooperating on offering the open source CMS in the cloud as well. Platform.sh offers its users a public cloud solution via Microsoft Azure Germany that also saves sensitive data securely in German datacenters.
Platform.sh is easy to use, flexible, tailored to the needs of developers and offers complete build and deployment management for composer-based applications. Other advantages for TYPO3 users:
• Management of the most important services such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, Redis, Solr and ElasticSearch
• Eliminates DevOps overhead by providing a complete copy of the application for every Git branch
• Flexible deployment targets around the world on the basis of Azure via Microsoft Cloud Germany
• Strong partnerships with Symfony and Blackfire.io
• Applications can scale from minimally resourced development environments to deployments with hundreds of CPUs and GB of RAM.
• Continuous integration enables snapshots from the productive environment to be used, new functions to be integrated and these to be integrated again live.
On the way to the release of the next full version of TYPO3, the core team has examined current best practices and identified core cloud functionalities. The Tech Preview gives an early insight into the new features before the release of TYPO3 8 LTS in April 2017. Screenshots are available on TYPO3.
Availability and prices
Starting today, Platform.sh offers a free trial version with 30 days of running time. Now, everyone can try out TYPO3 CMS 8 and test as many projects as they want in the cloud. Projects are available starting at 10 euros per month, but can be scaled worldwide to even the largest websites (for SaaS providers, for example). All prices and offers can be found on Platform.sh.
Data Protection and Security
Because Platform.sh provides its functions via Microsoft Azure in the Microsoft Cloud Germany, sensitive data can also be stored and processed safely. The data centers are located in Germany and access is controlled by a reputable German data custodian. Microsoft itself can only obtain access, in the event of support questions, for example, with the expressed permission of the customer. The data center is protected by physical barriers, comprehensive measures against natural forces as well as technical security measures and a 24-hour security service.
