Spectre/Meltdown Security Update Notice

security
05 January, 2018

Ori Pekelman
Chief Strategy Officer

By now you have likely heard of two large hardware vulnerabilities called Meltdown and Spectre (https://spectreattack.com/) which have sent many in the IT world scrambling to patch systems.  Because these vulnerabilities affect our backend providers’ hardware, Platform.sh was also affected.

We have confirmed that our backend providers have updated their systems.

This maintenance window is to allow us to upgrade our virtualized systems on top of our backend providers. Because these updates involve Linux kernel updates, a reboot of all systems is required.

Platform.sh has scheduled multiple maintenance windows today, January 05, 2018, starting at 09:00 UTC. Please see https://status.platform.sh/ for specific details.  Enterprise customers should see no downtime. Professional customers may see a brief outage.

If you are a Platform.sh client you would have received yesterday prior notice with the schedule of maintenance windows affecting any of your sites hosted by us.

Rest assured that we are diligently following up on this and that we are proactively taking measures to make sure no Platform.sh will be affected by these serious bugs.
