Today we are proud to announce that HHVM is available as an application service on Platform.sh.

HHVM

HHVM is a drop-in replacement for the PHP interpreter which was initially created by engineers at Facebook, but which has evolved into an open-source project with a large community of contributors. It boasts dramatic gains in performance and scalability over PHP and introduces many new features as a dialect of the PHP language called Hack. These include scalar typehints and a static type-checker, asynchronous I/O primitives for cooperative multi-tasking, and numerous native data structures (such as shapes and collections) that allow for improvements in developer productivity.

In particular, the HHVM team recently concluded a sprint focused on improving performance for open-source PHP content management systems.

Platform.sh looks forward to being one of the first PaaS hosting solutions to support applications running on HHVM. Check out our public documentation for information on how to use and configure the service.
