E18 Funding free and open source software

Developer Relations

Free Software and Open Source development have taken over the world; virtually every organization runs on Free Software in some capacity, whether it realizes it or not. But all too often Free Software ends up meaning "free labor," and companies leverage Open Source projects without contributing back to them. That puts more and more pressure on people to create value in terms of software development and maintenance without getting anything back, and we end up relying on too many volunteer weak links. That's bad for both developers and users.

Today we talk with representatives of two organizations that are trying to change that, by providing ways for both businesses and individuals to provide sustainable funding for Free and Open Source development and developers.
