Microsoft and Platform.sh announce availability of sovereign, end-to-end development and production hosting solution in Microsoft Cloud Germany

New offering satisfies compliance and data security needs of Large Enterprises and Public Sector, while offering productivity gains and efficiency savings.

Platform.sh announced today the full availability of its containerized PaaS solution in Microsoft Cloud Germany’s Azure datacenters with immediate effect.

“Up to now we have offered production resources in Microsoft Cloud Germany. This takes our cooperation with Microsoft to the next level, providing a watertight, end-to-end development and production hosting solution that satisfies the exacting compliance and regulatory standards that public sector and Large Enterprise customers have come to expect.“ Platform.sh Regional Manager for DACH Andrew Melck.

Customer data is held in new Azure datacenters under the control of T-Systems, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, an independent German company acting as a data trustee.

“Microsoft Cloud Germany enables our customers and partners to transform successfully and pioneer in their markets by providing innovative solutions that meet even strict compliance restrictions. Partners like Platform.sh are at the forefront of helping customers to fuel their businesses with intelligent cloud technologies and open-source solutions.” Peter Jaeger, Senior Director DX at Microsoft Germany

Platform.sh is growing quickly in Germany and has already attracted a constellation of top brands including Gelbe Seiten, Ikea, Mercedes Benz Stars-Insight, Flixbus, and Mustang Jeans.

Some of Germany’s most trusted IT players are also signed up, including the TYPO3 Association.

“TYPO3 is the CMS that people trust in Germany - but also across Europe. Platform.sh is an amazing tool for maximizing developer value by accelerating delivery cycles and simplifying production workflow. Bringing everything under one roof in Germany underlines that trust – and creates the ideal conditions for our extensive user base to make the move into the cloud - with all the necessary assurances.” Olivier Dobberkau, Chairman of the TYPO3 association

It’s a scenario that also works well for public sector users. Dr. Christian Knebel’s company publicplan recently launched deGov, a portal solution for local authorities and public institutions based on Drupal 8. He said, “The public sector has a whole raft of requirements in terms of regulations and compliance. With this step, Platform.sh becomes the first solution to marry cutting-edge technology with a suitably old-school respect for the security and sovereignty concerns that such bodies inevitably have.”

Platform.sh is supported by the European Commission as a laureate of the highly competitive Horizon 2020 program in order to augment its existing worldwide cloud solution with European sovereign capabilities. It is now recognized as a Horizon 2020 Champion.

Companies, agencies and developers interested in trialling the new offering are encouraged to take advantage of the free trial available at https://platform.sh/regions/german/.
